Contemporary China Review 2025 Spring/Summer Issue

 

We believe the path to a post-Communist China may take some time, but we should pay particular attention to the path to a post-Xi Jining China. Although Xi Jinping appears to hold considerable power, it's unclear when he might step down. There seem to be many online rumors of this lately. So, in a post-Xi Jinping China, are there any forces within the CCP that can be leveraged? Are there also rational, progressive forces within the Communist Party? Can we engage with them? In a post-Xi Jinping China, is it possible to promote the transformation of the Communist Party and put China on the path of freedom and democracy?
